SAVE THE CHILDREN – STC WALK THE WORLD
The covid crisis coupled with the draconian cuts to the UK’s overseas aid will continue to have a devastating effect on the poorest families in our world for many years to come. This fundraising STC- walk initiative is all about raising funds so they can help as many of these families as possible.

Brian Stockdale, who looks after our online presence and financial records is also treasurer of the Preston fundraising branch of Save the Children (STC) and team captain of the Northern Fundraiser’s Walk the World team

The Northern Fundraisers virtual walk to Syria commenced on 1st May. Brian added “The distance to Syria is 2,789 miles, which will be covered by pooling the steps of all our team members. Currently we have a very small team of 3, so we need plenty more fundraising legs as well as financial supporters to help us to reach our virtual destination successfully. You can find all about how to get involved at https://scfnw.org.uk/scf-walk-the-world/ or you can jump straight to my personal Just Giving Team Page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Brians-Preston-STC-Walk .
Thank you”

NOT QUITE – out of hibernation yet and hot water bottles are on standby; overcoats are de rigueur. We might have to wait until June for the heat to arrive; when it does we shall be ecstatic. Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, and once again no procession and band contest on Whit Friday.

30 YEARS – ‘My long lost brother is returning on Sunday. I haven’t seen him since he left Ireland 30 years ago’ said Mick. ‘He wrote to say I’ll be arriving at Shannon airport at eight in the morning. ‘If he’s been away that long,’ asked Sean, ‘how will you recognise him?” ‘I won’t, reasoned Mick. ‘But, he’ll recognise me ‘cos I’ve never been away at all.’

DOUBLE CELEBRATION – our Mass leaflets today are for Ascension Day – in Ireland the Feast is celebrated today.

ST FRANCIS DE SALES – Bloom where you are planted.

FINANCE – reticent to mention finance, but in an increasingly cashless society, contributuions can be made by online bank transfer – just visit the website for infomation by clicking here.

HOPE IT WILL BE A DECENT WEEK FOR EVERYBODY
