MENTIONING AGAIN – our change in the time we celebrate the Vigil Mass on Saturday – it has now been moved to 12.15pm. Do let people know.

FOOD BANK – many thanks for the food left at the back of church – taken to the Food Bank on Thursday and ever so gratefully received.

NEW OFFERTORY ENVELOPES –are at the back of church. Once again, if you haven’t got a book of envelopes and would like one, take one and write your name and the number of the envelope on the sheet of paper. Put GA if you want it gift-aided and take a gift-aid form.

Miaow – The two Irishmen were escaping from the prison camp by scaling the fence. One stumbled and the guard called, ‘Who goes there?’ ‘Miaow!’ came the reply from Pat, and away he crept. The second stumbled and the guard again called ‘Who goes there?’. Mick answered ‘Another cat!’

SUSPECT – that our New Year’s resolutions have taken a hit this past week; temperatures have taken a plunge. Wonderful to see a slight lengthening of the day. The sheep don’t appear to be unhappy at being out all night; perhaps we too must learn to enjoy winter.

CHRISTOHER HOWSE -‘ Each Christian is a living stone, a portable temple of the Holy Spirit. It is at church that they build up the body of Christ which they mystically constitute. Analogically the altar is Jesus’ body too, which is why people bow to it, and the priest kisses it as he approaches to celebrate the Eucharist.’

A MOTHER’S PRAYER –May you always be a strong arm to the weak; and may you always be a comfort to the crying; a smile to the lonely, a blessing to the grieving; and may you always be a haven to the anxious. May your life be full of Jesus and his love; may you be God-driven by the Father and the Spirit; and may you be his hands and smile and be his arms of comfort. And may you always be his blessing to the world. Amen.

YUSHI NOMARA – Abba Isidore of Pelusia said, ‘Living without speaking is better than speaking without living. For a person who lives rightly helps us by silence, while one who talks too much merely annoys. If, however, words and life go hand in hand, it is the perfection of all philosophy.’

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and discover they were the big things.

OPEN ALL HOURS – a sprinkling of churches have closed, but no new directives from the government.
