HUGH LAVERY – ‘Jesus did not declare himself to be the Life but more- the Resurrection and the Life. Rising asks first for a dying and this is the demand we want to evade. But, growth, he reveals, is no easy gradient. Rise and fall, decay and renovation; this is the rhythm and Jesus was not exempt from its undulation. He rehearsed death many times and life was always loss before it was gain. Total resurrection was born of total surrender. Here we learn one lesson, self-realisation is the child of self-sacrice.’
