MICHAELMAS DAY – (29th Sept) ‘ If St Michael brings many acorns Christmas
will cover the fields with snow.’ – according to folklore lots of acorns will bring a hard winter. We are looking forward to a St Luke’s summer this month. The past week was really very agreeable and ideal for getting out and about.
STARTING THE DAY – for the past eighty years (wrote the cellist Pablo Casals at the age of ninety three) I have started the day in the same manner…I go to the piano and I play two preludes and fugues of Bach.. It is a sort of benediction on the house. But that is not its only meaning. It is a rediscovery of the world in which I have the joy of being a part. It fills me with the awareness of the wonder of life, with the marvel of being human
