MASS TIMES THIS WEEK – each day – except Wednesday – 12 noon.
FEASTS THIS WEEK – Mon- Our Lady of Guadalupe; Tues- St Lucy; Wed- St John of the Cross; Fri- St Adelaide; Sat- St Lazarus.
CONFESSIONS – Saturdays at 10.30am and 6.10pm
BILLY ELLIOT – we go to see Billy Elliot at the Palace Theatre this Wednesday- those who have been say that it is a great performance. We will leave from the Market Place car park this time at 6.15pm – earlier than usual – because of congestion in the City Centre due to pre-Christmas shopping and celebrations.
A LITTLE GIFT – we are so happy to give those attending Mass today a framed picture of Our Lady of Mossley.
SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE – takes place this Thursday in church at 7pm.
TEA AND COFFEE – in the parish room after Mass – access through sacristy.
OUR ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE – will take place on Monday 19th December, at 7.30pm.
PIETY STALL – for last minute gifts, cards and calendars.
MOORS AND MINCE PIES – Sunday 18th December – join Paul Nethrcott on a very strenuous walk in the countryside around Carrbrook, finishing with alfresco mince pies. 10am Castle Clough car park, Bucton Vale Road, 10am (6 hours)
DONATION – £60 in memory of Veronica Turner who died in Canada
CHRISTMAS MASS TIMES – just mentioning that on Christmas Eve Mass will be at 6.30pm and on Christmas Day Mass will be at 10.30am.
FINGERS CROSSED – for a white Christmas – tropical weather this past week, without the sun and blue skies. Our tree should be arriving this week; it has had a sign hanging on it for weeks saying ‘St Joseph’s, Mossley’. This Sunday was always known as Gaudete Sunday (rejoice in the Lord always) and the rose coloured candle on the Advent wreath is lit – joyful anticipation at the Lord’s coming. A busy two weeks for most people!
MOSSLEY FOOD BANK – at Micklehurst Youth Base off Micklehurst Road, open Thursdays 10am till 12 is appealing for food parcels – they can be left here.
OLDHAM CHOIR – is giving two Christmas concerts – Holy Trinity, Shaw, this Sunday at 7.30pm and at St Edward’s, Lees, Monday at 7.30pm. £5 including refreshments. Phone Win 832137 for more information.
