TEA AND COFFEE – in the parish room after Mass – access through sacristy.
LIVERPOOL OUTING – just to say what a lovely outing it was, and we were so blessed with the weather. Hopefully, we will have a couple of Sunday afternoon trips out next year.
CHATSWORTH HOUSE CHRISTMAS MARKET – this is held every year during November and a few parishioners wondered if anyone would be interested in going. There are over 100 stalls and the location is really beautiful. It would be less busy on a weekday and the cost would be £5. We would leave just before lunch and return for tea time. We will leave a list in the porch.
NEXT PARISH LUNCH – will be on Wednesday 20th October, the feast of St Chad – we will leave a list in the porch next Sunday.
QUIZ NIGHT – Jenny has produced an excellent quiz for us to enjoy – it is wide ranging, so don’t be put off if you feel you are hopeless at quizzes – the parish priest is always on the losing team! £1 admission, refreshments, and proceeds to The Life Boat Association. Wednesday 19th October at 7.30pm – List in the porch.
EXHIBITON – just mentioning that there is an exhibition in the Library (George Lawton) of churches and schools in Mossley, old and new.
FINAL DATE – for submitting responses to the re-structuring of parishes is 14th October. DON’T FORGET – articles for the parish magazine.
MEDITATION – on Mondays (week 3) in the small chapel at 7.15-8.18- all welcome. We said that we would meet for 6 Mondays.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER – with the Mossley Band – 11th November at The George Lawton Hall – see poster in the porch.
SCOOL RE-UNION – there is a school re-union on Friday 14th October at Denton Cricket Club, Egerton Street, at 7.30pm for those who attended St Francis School (Gorton Monastery) before 1980 – almost typed 1080!
CONKERS GALORE – a true sign of autumn when the ground is littered with acorns and conkers. And no rain to speak of or complain about. Our hedge received a much needed trim during the week. In the Flemish Book of Hours the October occupation is ploughing and sowing. St John of the Cross got it right when he said ‘when the evening of this life comes, we shall be judged on love.’
