CONFESSIONS – Saturdays at 10.30am and 6.10pm


MISSION RED BOXES – this quarter amounted to £465 – note from Sue Glynn – ‘ Thank you to everyone concerned. If you haven’t got a box and would like one, please see me. Also, someone left monies in a blue carrier bag for me; unfortunately, there was no name inside. Can you please let me know who you are?

PARISH LUNCH – our next parish lunch is on Thursday 18th July after the 12 noon Mass. All welcome. The list is in the porch.

COFFEE AND TEA – served in the Parish Room after Mass – access through the sacristy.

SCARECROW FESTIVAL – takes place on 20th and 21st July, Saturday and Sunday. A number of parishioners have been beavering away making scarecrows – in secret because of industrial espionage! It is rumoured that Pope Francis may be appearing; that is, as a scarecrow.

BIG SING – Churches Together have the annual ‘Big Sing’ at the Methodist Church this Sunday at 3pm

TAKE YOUR PICK – when the Copts are electing a Coptic pope, three names are put into a chalice, and a child draws out one of the names. He is then pope.

FOOD PARCELS – many thanks for the food parcels left in the presbytery porch, they have been passed on to those in need.

ST DAMIAN’S HIGH SCHOOL – celebrates its 50th Anniversary this week.

PARISH MAGAZINE – seems to have been well received. There are just a few copies left, but the magazine can be read ‘on line’- see website above.

KNIT AND NATTER – Whit Friday Com – Town Hall – 17th July – 2-4pm.

BABY IT’S HOT OUT THERE – sizzling temperatures are set to hit Mossley’s Sunset Boulevard this weekend, sending the populace foraging for ice cream and cooling drinks. At the beginning of the week the weather was being described as autumnal and this weekend it will be vying with Vegas! – though as they say in Lancashire: ‘appen. No haute couture this weekend; I suspect it will be flip flops and shorts – we might see the pope in sandals yet.
