SAD NEWS – we received the sad news on Wednesday that Fr Michael Flemming had died. He had been really poorly during the summer months but was upbeat about making a recovery. We are grateful for his ministry here. He arrived in March 2003 and left in December 2010 to go to Our Lady of Lourdes and St Gregory’s in Farnworth. After that he moved to the Holy Family in Limeside and also looked after Holy Rosary, Oldham. He said recently that he enjoyed his time at St Joseph’s and was sorry to leave. So far, the diocese has not released any details of the funeral arrangements. May he rest in peace.
PARISH LUNCH – once again, just a lovely occasion. Two beautifully prepared Lancashire dishes, followed by apple crumble and trifle and cakes – not to mention the raffle and stand-up bingo! Our gratitude to our cooks and desert makers and bakers, and indeed, to all who came.
GUYS AND DOLLS – we have purchased the tickets – 7th Dec – and will collect the money next month.
MEDITATION – during the month of October we have meditation in the parish room – 7.15-8.15pm – all welcome. (finding inner peace).
SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME – will give details next week
CHILDREN’S PACKS – to help the little ones becoming too restless and noisy during Mass, two parishioners have produced a little pack containing crayons and a colouring book. Do take a pack and return it when leaving. Hope it is useful.
HELPING WITH THE FLOWERS – do mention it if you would like to give a hand – training and help will be provided.
THE JOSEPHIAN – holidays, memories, favourite places, recipes, etc,
TROPICAL WEATHER – forecast for the next few days – before the storm! The pumpkins adorn our supermarkets; they look so attractive. Wonder how many people eat them.
A BLESSING OF ANGELS – ‘May the Angel of Encouragement confirm you in worth and self-respect, that you may live with the dignity that presides in your soul. May all the Angels be your sheltering and joyful guardians.’
