The Lenten Fast is relaxed today- 21 days before Easter Sunday, and at one time servants were released from their duties on this day to visit their mothers- hence Mothering Sunday. Also, the pope would send a gold rose to Catholic sovereigns on this day. But not anymore!
We wish all mothers a happy and joyful day. There should be a prayercard / bookmark for everyone, designed by AO.

AND SPRING AT LAST – What a joy! A couple of days in the past week had us shivering, not to mention the weeping skies. The cheery blossom across from the church looks quite heavenly. It has been a sombre week though, and we will pray for all those so tragically killed and injured in that sickening and senseless act of terrorism on Wednesday.
HALF WAY THROUGH LENT – never too late to do something: an act of kindness, a weekday Mass, a decade of the rosary, reading a passage of scripture.
Well, please God, we will do our best.
