AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED – APPEAL – £475.58 – on behalf of the ATCIN, Chris Robson, who gave the appeal, sends his gratitude for the generosity shown by the parishioners of St Joseph’s. He did mention to let him know if anyone would care to be a rep – ie, to put up the odd poster on the notice board and flag up events.

MISSIO – RED BOX APPEAL – Once again, many thanks to all who helped to collect £522.37 for the missions. Sue Glynn.

ANNIVERSARIES – Clair Baxendale; David Graham (Birthday Anniversary)

OCTOBER DEVOTIONS – on the Thursdays in October at 7pm – rosary and benediction – perhaps we might be able to manage one Thursday.

MASS TIMES THIS WEEK – 10am each day

FEASTS THIS WEEK – Mon- Our Lady of the Rosary; Wed- Blessed John Henry Newman; Thurs- St Paulinus; Sat- St Wilfrid

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – Fridays at 9-10am

CONFESSIONS – Saturdays at 10.30am and 6.10pm

MEDITATION – Mondays at 7.30-8.30pm in the presbytery. All welcome.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE MEETING – this Tuesday at 7.30pm in the parish room. All welcome. Hoping to discuss future activities.

TEA AND COFFEE – after Mass in the parish room – access through sacristy

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME – there will be a meeting for parents of children who are making their Confirmation and Communion next year on Monday 21st October at 6.30pm at church.

NO ESCAPE THIS TIME – Mark Mason recounts how Harry Houdini accidentally locked himself in the loo at the Glasgow Empire and had to bang on the door for the staff to let him out!!

THE JOSEPHIAN -is available this weekend, please do take a copy; a big thankyou to Jenny the editor, to the contributors and to St Damians for printing the magazine. We have been well blessed.

FALLING INTO THE SCHMALTZ POT – not a bad week for getting out and about, and last Sunday was heaven sent- though with a stiff easterly. We are led to believe that Fr Peter Tierney is to become the next parish priest of St Stephen’s, Droylsden. We wish him a happy ministry there. Fr Fallon has retired to South Manchester.
