NIL DESPERANDUM (don’t despair!) – the warm weather is sure to return; and we have been treated to another lovely week of sunshine – just as the children returned to school. The ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ will soon be upon us – poor Keats, writer of the poem, died of tuberculosis in Rome aged only 25 (1820). The engineer serviced the church heaters during the week and pronounced them safe – though a couple of the smaller ones need replacing.

Health and safety is quite an industry these days, though we recognise that it is better to safe than sorry! But the quote of the week from a cookery book : ‘how to tell when the water is boiling in the pan’!

OUR LADY OF WALSINGHAM – Mass at the Cathedral on Tuesday 24th September, at 7.30pm

HOUSE BLESSING – May this place be fragrant with the presence of the Lord; May this place overflow with the gratitude of his people; May this place echo with the sounds of joy; May clouds of God’s peace envelop it; God’s peace be always here in those who dwell here. Let us enjoy his presence now.
